Help us raise $549,182 to support young people impacted by cancer

$75,000

of our $549,182 goal

Built on the generosity of Australians like you

Canteen has grown from a small support group of six young cancer patients into a nationwide organisation providing free, tailored support to thousands of young people.

We help young Aussies and their families navigate the challenges of cancer when their world has been turned upside down - but none of it would be possible without your support.

Young people supported by Canteen would recommend us to a friend dealing with cancer.

“If Canteen no longer existed, you’d lose all the connections, all the knowledge, all the experience. Families would lose their lifeline all the way from diagnosis to wherever their journey ends up.”

"I have always wanted to help a charity and last year I made up my mind and chose Canteen. I’ve had a breast cancer journey and I couldn’t imagine what it would be life for a younger person impacted by cancer. Its been a pleasure donating my bit to help.”

“I’m one of thousands who donate to Canteen. I do it because I want young people to know that there is a person who cares and wants them to get the support they need on their journey. Stay strong.”

“It’s a privilege to be part of the Canteen journey. It shows how much a bit of love, support and care can contribute to the well-being of an individual. I thank Canteen for their dedication and support for young people impacted by cancer and wish them all the best."

Give young people facing cancer
the support they deserve

Cancer is turning young lives upside down — isolating them and leaving many to cope alone. Canteen is the only organisation supporting 12–25 year olds through cancer with personalised care and counselling.

Right now, 1,300 young people urgently need support. Donate this tax-time to help them face cancer with strength, not silence.

Cancer changes everything.
So can your support.

Every year, about 23,000 young Aussies have their world turned upside by cancer. Four out of 5 young people impacted by cancer feel distressed and alone. Canteen is committed to reach as many of these young people as we can with free, individualised support, but we can’t do it without you.

Frequently asked questions

Why make a tax-deductible donation to Canteen?

Canteen prevents long-term societal impacts of cancer by addressing issues like isolation and untreated trauma. We believe that every young person deserves access to life-changing cancer support. With your help, Canteen can improve our services, expand them, and reach more young people than ever before. Young people can discover treatments, support, and new experiences on the flipside of the hard ones, and find life in the face of cancer.

Where does my donation go and why does Canteen’s work matter?

Cancer affects everyone differently, which means your donations support a range of tailored programs and services to suit different cancer experiences. By making a donation to Canteen today, you are ensuring young people’s specific needs are being met, whether this is providing practical and emotional support to them explore their feelings about cancer, providing connection with other young people or - if they’ve been diagnosed themselves - by providing youth-specific treatment teams. Canteen prevents long-term societal impacts by addressing issues like isolation and untreated trauma by fostering a sense of community, leadership, and personal growth, helping them shape their futures in the face of adversity. Is my donation tax-deductible?

Yes! Donations of $2 or more are considered tax deductible donations because Canteen Australia is endorsed as a deductible gift recipient (DGR). There is no limit to how much you can claim, however, there is a limit to how much of a donation you can claim in a financial year. Tax-deductible donations must be ‘genuine’, meaning that you cannot receive any benefit from the donation. For more information about tax deductible donations, click here.

Can I make a recurring donation?

Yes! Monthly giving is the best way to help us ensure no young Australian has to face cancer alone as this provides a predictable and stable income stream, allowing us to effectively plan ahead. Each day our support services reach thousands of young Aussies like Georgia, and that’s only possible because of the continuous support of caring people like you. Simply navigate to the donation page on our website and select ‘give monthly’ on the form.

Can companies and organisations donate?

Just as individuals can claim donations as a tax deduction, businesses can claim gifts to charity as well – as long as it is a cash donation and the charity is a deductible gift recipient (which Canteen is). For information on partnering with Canteen as an organisation, please click here.
